A World Apart
Mockups vs. the Real Thing
Hello Friends,
In all the excitement, I forgot to write a post about getting to see the book in real life on Monday evening!
It was after 8 pm. As I pedaled away on the elliptical upstairs overlooking the front driveway, the Amazon van pulled in. I zoomed down the stairs and out the door to get the package containing my proof copy. (That’s a test copy for authors to review for any final revisions before it goes on sale.)
I asked my son to come film me opening the box. Although his panning to the cat who decided to walk through the kitchen during the video added a certain ambience, I opted instead to let my phone help me create a video of still shots for you. You can still see that my kitchen was a disaster. I see you looking behind me at the mess. In fact, there was/is no place in my house where the video would have the perfect instagram background. Besides, I had been out of town Sunday and Monday for a medical appointment and was exhausted. So, you get what you get and don’t throw a fit. Oh sorry, I regressed for a moment to my parenting days.
Anyway, my throat got a little tight when I held that beauty of a book in my hands the first time. Viewing mockups on my computer screen is a world apart from seeing the actual book, from opening that uniquely gorgeous cover graced with my daughter Kaylyn’s artwork, from turning those pages, completely in awe of the moment. I am beyond grateful for the privilege of participating in what my Jesus is doing and will do through this project.
Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples.
Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;
Speak of all His wonders.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
— Psalm 105:1-3 NAS95
If you would like to preorder your copies, you may do so through my website here. When you order through my site, you will receive a special surprise in your order. I am not sure what it will be yet, but I am pretty confident it will have something to do with Kaylyn. Shhh, I haven’t asked her yet . . . Also, remember if you are a paying subscriber here, see my post here for a discount code. Or, if you’re on Facebook, you can join the excitement of my launch team to stay in the loop. (Pssst . . . there’s a code there, too.)
Thank you again for all your support and encouragement and for sharing with your friends and family about the book. I will let you know when it goes live on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. You may then order through those retailers if you wish. I would appreciate it if you post reviews as well.
Blessings to you and yours this Thanksgiving Day and always.
In Christ,
Janice

Thank you for sharing this post!
I am believing holding this proof copy of your wonderful and inspirational book in your hands is only eclipsed by when you held your newborn babies in your arms--am I correct in this belief, Janice?
So very excited WITH you, dear sister in faith.
