This year I was struck by that darkest day of all: that longest Saturday of utter hopeless despair. No Messiah anymore and none to anticipate like our forefathers did. He was with us and He’s gone. Killed. Forever. Simple as that…He came. He left us — with pure deepest grief.
Against the world, our flesh, and Satan, we are alone and defenseless. Dead in our sin; no redemption.
…it must have seemed…
Much like today, I’m thinking, as we watch, horrified, evil take off its myriad disguises and boldly proclaim itself. It struts and mocks, showing off its face and asserting its ascendency.*
…It certainly seems…
But, His words: “It is finished.”
come the morning after —
HE IS RISEN!! Forever with us. Giving us His seal. Saved from God by God.
I such a short space of time all was changed. Everything made in newness of life. Promises kept and fulfilled. His gift of and from Love — The wonderful mercy of our God —The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit — and little us, made His children, His bride, His people! Justified, Sanctified and risen with him!
I, we, must remember the mighty works of the Lord written in His Holy Book, telling of His Love, His Power snd His Glory.
God Bless!
*Yes, I do mean “he” and “his”, but he is evil personified and I do not like to humanize nor honor him with Man’s or God’s pronouns.)
Amen!
Glorious truth!
Love the poem, Janice!
